Forget Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

There are always explanations for why things to you or others. Even though you might not understand why. Some of the time, when things happen that you do not wish for, you may be tempted to throw your arms in the and wish ...

But me! I just say 'Great'. You know why?

No, I am not one of the lucky few. I have learned a very life defining skill. And that is to maintain perspective. Of course you have heard about 'perspective'? Let us work on this together now, please.

Perspective is one of those influencers that are instrumental in shaping your reality. It is not the only influencer, but it does play a pretty crucial role.

You (and you alone) determine your perspective. Never mind what is happening out there. You are ultimately responsible for your outlook, because you can control your self-confidence, your self-talk, as well as your expectancies.

These three are the components of perspective. Success is much more possible when these three components are positive.

Yes, it might be raining out there and the sheriff might be knocking at your door. You might be faced with a bankruptcy and your most trusted partner might have just dumped you. But... what is important when these things happen is the climate/environment you are creating and maintaining in your head. Your glorious status might be history, but how about rewriting your future? And here's how...

Self-confidence

It is important for you to remember that your perceptions of reality changes depending on how you feel about yourself at any given moment. Got that? If you are full of confidence, you diminish the power of outside factors, and your internal reality is charged up with resourcefulness. 'What if my self-confidence is so low because of the failures I have experienced'? I hear you ask.

Focus on the fundamentals and basics. That is what you do. Make sure you master the fundamentals and basics of whatever it is that you want to do. And when you can do the fundamentals right, you have taken the first steps in increasing your self-confidence.

Step two involves making sure that you achieve small incremental victories. Little by little. From one small victory to the next 'little bit' bigger victory. It might be necessary at this stage to achieve as many 'baby victories' as possible. Until you feel more 'confident' to handle bigger situations. In NLP they call it 'small chunking'. Break down your challenge into smaller, manageable components. Achieve success in each little components. Haven't you heard how you eat an elephant?

Self-talk

What do you say to yourself and about yourself when you are under pressure? Think about a particular incident? Was what you were saying then helpful, resourceful or was it discouraging?

Watch your words, because they might have a tendency of sabotaging your efforts at building self-confidence.

Your words communicate one of two things. They either communicate images of failure and helplessness or they communicate images of success and resourcefulness. If you communicate helplessness to yourself, especially when you are under pressure, you are not doing yourself any favor. Which would you prefer while you are building your self-confidence: a rhetoric of past failures or a message of hope and resourcefulness?

You can change the tape you want to hear. You can change what you tell yourself by:

a. monitoring your self-talk
b. using positive, concrete language and
c. maintaining perspective.

Ok, the title of this discussion is 'Forget Positive Thinking'. I bet you my last penny, positive thinking does not work. Especially if you are under severe pressure.

For me what has worked is the practicality of building my self-confidence, monitoring my self-talk, and maintaining perspective.

    Practical Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

It is a sad to me that most people still do not recognize the possible benefits of positive thinking. This resistance to what is really a simple notion comes from a number of angles. Some people may shy away from anything to do with the mind, and dismiss any related subject as nonsense; others may laugh it off as a New Age fad, airy fairy hogwash with no scientific proof, much in the same arena as UFO's piloted by aliens. Some may even have tried positive thinking once for two minutes, saw no great change in their lives, so reverted to normal.

At least with aliens and UFO's you can make movies and television series to make them exciting, but with down to earth positive thinking that is not so. Watching somebody think is not good drama, and results of positive thinking in practice can be very slow and subtle anyway.

Two of the attractions of using positive thinking are that it is easy, and it is free. However, before being convinced that it is something they should use, most people would need to see some quite dramatic and immediate example of its success, which is not easy to find. Given that positive thinking has to be applied over time to bring noticeable results in an individual, a stark and living example of the successful use of positive thinking is hard to come by.

So, what of the positive thinking examples that have happened over time, with a successful outcome? They can be easily dismissed by those who just do not want to believe: “Oh, that would have happened anyway, without positive thinking.” However, if the story is told to a lot of people, maybe one or two people will start to wonder: “Oh, maybe there is something in positive thinking after all.”

I think that probably the most convincing argument in favour of positive thinking is that it is plain common sense. An individual has their own mind, which controls their body and their actions. If that mind is sending out an overload of negative signals all the time, is the outcome not going to sway towards the negative? That sounds like a common sense notion to me, not hocus pocus, New Age, or even some advanced scientific theory. If the mind is sending out predominantly positive messages, then the opposite would be true.

Even without the common sense angle, though, I have good reason to believe the use of positive thinking in my own life has been both positive in its results, and significant in its impact. I am therefore able to support my belief in positive thinking with practical examples, and in the following three articles will recall some of those longer term examples.

Thinking is something through which we distinguish from the non human or animal behaviors. The Psycho analysis of all the beings of the earth shows distinctly that the sense of thinking is important for the rational behavior. Attitude forms an important part whereas thinking contributes lot to the attitude. Sometimes the thinking, itself can prove us to an animal behavior. That is where we find the negative thoughts coming in. The insane qualities are product of negative thinking.

But then, what is that keeping fewer beings to march forward and go on and on? Understand the magic; it is nothing but positive thinking. Specificity of being positive in certain thoughts can be a key to the best optimistic approach. A motivational speaker gives you a lot of insight about the positive thinking, but what helps you to stay positive? It is being specific to the lifestyle that the keynote speaker gives you. Ultimately it turns to you and your decision.

Our usual misconceptions about positive thinking are that money will drop out of the sky; GOD will come on a chariot to take away the sufferings and pains and lot more imaginations. But positive thinking is not that, which eventually can lead you to that level. In order to acquire the great status of positive thinking, we must realize what positive thinking is all about and what it is not! The stepping towards every small step that you want to achieve will carry you to the optimistic world. Believe that the knowledge of "positive thinking" will help you in having it as your tool to reach your own skies. The very feel of positive thinking itself will help you to feel confident and move towards it. This attitude helps us be a lot more fun to be with.

Well started is half done? Yes. So start any venture with the positive and the best optimistically promising approach. Decide that it is half done. It is possible for many people to stay positive even after facing many hurdles. Search for examples stop once Abraham Lincoln comes to the mind. Learn from the experienced.

The motivational speakers can help you attain a lot of scope in positive thinking, and remember to form the best impression within yourself.

    Positive Thinking

The ultimate power of positive thinking is a cherished dream for many people around the world. Positive thinking means that you are allowing only those good thoughts into your mind, and such thoughts may include words, images and perceptions, which are suitable for personal growth and prosperity. Positive thinking also allows you to think everything good about life and its results. If you have a positive thinking mind, you’ll always anticipate happy life, peace, laughter, good health and financial success. It also means that you can unleash your mind to find whatever you want for your life. Positive thinking is so powerful!

Positive thinking is always beneficial to us; when our attitude and behavior is positive, we allow only pleasant feelings and constructive images to work in our mind, and also visualize in our inner eye, what we really want from our life and how it should happen. Such an attitude brings only good things like an enhanced inner energy level, catchy manners, twinkling eyes and success. A person with positive thought will walk and talk in an upright manner without any hesitation. The ultimate body language shows a tremendous capacity to achieve all things, which are considered impossible in the normal course of life.

Positive thoughts and positive people can not be avoided in manner, as in real life, they are highly contagious and infectious. Positive thinking people are just like magnets, capable enough to attract other people to follow them and act like them. This is often so true when you stay with highly positive people for a month or two, and study their impeccable positive behavior. This is known to occur almost unknowingly in our subconscious mind, almost on a continuous mode.

To create a turnaround to guide our mind towards positive thinking, we need makeshift work to change the way we think and act. Your old habits may never die and it is often very tough to get rid of your past baggage. Changing your old habits is also painful as you need to come out of your negative past and change the previous rules. Visualization may help you develop positive thinking process, and always visualize only beneficial situations. Talk positive and develop positive manners. Another improvised method to develop positive thinking is the recitation of positive affirmations and self talk. This method can be used in conjunction with the visualization process, just to supplement the overall result.

    Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

The power of positive thinking, you have probably heard this sentence before, but what does it mean and how can we train ourselves so positive thinking becomes automatic?

For most people unfortunately, negative thinking is more common than positive thinking. Most people through the day have a lot more negative thoughts about themselves, their situations, or their workplace, than positive thoughts.

    Why is this?

It seems like children from the time they are born, think positively, but as children age into adults, they start to think more negatively about themselves and others. So how can we change this?

The way to change this is to try to be more deliberate in your thoughts. Try to monitor your thoughts through the day, and as soon as you catch yourself thinking negatively about a situation you must stop yourself and try to come up with some positive thoughts.

Like trying to break any bad habits it takes time. Most experts think that it takes 21 days to form a habit or 21 days to break a habit. So you have to try and work hard at trying to think positively for at least 21 days.

The good news is that once positive thinking becomes a habit for you it becomes automatic. This is when life really begins for you. Imagine what your life would be like if you had no negative thoughts. Every thought you have is about how great your life is and how grateful you are for each person in your life.

Well you don’t have to only image a life like that; you can start living it right now. Make positive thinking a habit in your life.

    Positive Thinking Equals Positive Events?

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Does thinking positive create positive events to come into your life?

I am pretty much on the fence on this one. When i look into my past i can see certain events that could be attributed to something like the law of attraction. I have a little handicap on my left hand, its nothing big just that the my small finger stands away in weird way. It's not even noticeable unless I wave my hand into your face.

However before going to high school I had this weird fear of people making fun of this handicap. Which was weird because no one did so up until that point. I had visuals of permanently wearing gloves to cover it up. I don't know why i had those fears, but sure enough it became reality not long after I started high school.

The first two years were pretty messed up, the second year being worse as it seems like 80% of my class were making fun of me then. It stopped then, why I am not sure, people probably just grew up.

It seems as though that I drew these events into my life. The question to ponder though is if it was the "force of the universe" as law of attraction teachers claim or if it was unconscious behavior of myself. Was I manipulating myself to act in a way that would make these events unfold?

The thing with the unconscious mind is, that... well .. it's unconscious, but it probably controls our every day behavior more than our conscious mind, and we don't event notice it.

I always try to look at issues from different angles though. So how could a thing like the proclaimed law of attraction work? The idea is that on the smallest level of our reality, everything is the same.

Thinking logically, you cannot disprove this. Well I cannot, maybe you can, but hear me out first. There are two possibilities, either there is a smallest element, which is the base module of everything greater than itself or there is infinity.

If were indeed dealing with infinity, in other words, you can break up any element into smaller modules ad infinitum, then again there will be a level somewhere in that chain of infinity where everything is the same. Why? because everything is bound to happen in infinity. Its infinite.

Ok, so everything is the same at some point or another. Meaning that we are indeed all connected, like it or not.

However, that fact alone does not validate the law of attraction as it was stated in the secret. Why? because were missing one important thing and that is ... the law of attraction. Like attracts like, says who? Where did this law come from, who defined it.

It says that at the smallest level everything is energy, and this energy vibrates at different frequencies. Same frequencies will be drawn to each other, different ones will push each other away. How, and this is a the BIG how that has me on the fence on this issue, do you prove that, or test that scientifically for that matter, to come to this conclusion.

If you think positive things, positive things will happen to you, but is it because you'll be more aware of opportunities - which by the way present them ever so often, for everyone - or is it because we are able to manipulate the quantum reality with our minds to create our reality as we wish it to be?

Thought Awareness, Rational Thinking and Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

These three related tools are useful in combating negative thinking. Negative thinking causes stress because it damages your confidence that you are equal to the task you face.

Negative thoughts occur when you put yourself down, criticize yourself for errors, doubt your abilities, expect failure, etc. Negative thinking is the negative side of suggestion – it damages confidence, harms performance and paralyzes mental skills.

    Thought Awareness

Thought awareness is the process by which you observe your thoughts for a time, perhaps when under stress, and become aware of what is going through your head. It is best not to suppress any thoughts – just let them run their course while you observe them.

Watch for negative thoughts while you observe your ‘stream of consciousness’. Normally these appear and disappear being noticed. Normally you will not know that they exist. Examples of common negative thoughts are:

    • worries about how you appear to other people
    • a preoccupation with the symptoms of stress
    • dwelling on consequences of poor performance
    • self criticism
    • feelings of inadequacy

Make a note of the thought, and then let the stream of consciousness run on.

Thought awareness is the first step in the process of eliminating negative thoughts – you cannot counter thoughts you do not know you think.

    Rational Thinking

Once you are aware of your negative thoughts, write them down and review them rationally. See whether the thoughts have any basis in reality. Often you find that when you properly challenge negative thoughts they are obviously wrong. Often they persist only because they escape notice.

    Positive Thinking and Affirmation

You may find it useful to counter negative thoughts with positive affirmations. You can use affirmations to build confidence and change negative behavior patterns into positive ones. You can base affirmations on clear, rational assessments of fact, and use them to undo the damage that negative thinking may have done to your self-confidence.

    Examples of affirmations are:

    • I can do this.
    • I can achieve my goals.
    • I am completely myself and people will like me for myself.
    • I am completely in control of my life.
    • I learn from my mistakes. They increase the basis of experience on which I can draw.
    • I am a good valued person in my own right.

Traditionally people have advocated positive thinking almost recklessly, as if it is a solution to everything. It should be used with common sense. No amount of positive thinking will make everyone who applies it an Olympic champion marathon runner (though an Olympic marathon runner is unlikely to have reached this level without being pretty good at positive thinking). Firstly decide rationally what goals you can realistically attain with hard work, and then use positive thinking to reinforce these.

Positive Thinking: Are You Truly Being Positive?

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Positive thinking in this day and age is a tool people are trying to incorporate into their lives; from housewives to CEO’s. But the question is what is positive thinking and how do our thinking patterns truly affect how we feel and how successful we are?

The mind is a neutral party and can be positive or negative depending on what it is trained to think. Our training comes from our lives as a whole and many people are an active part of our training: parents, teachers, friends, those of a religious position etc. So at the point that we begin to choose what information we want, and what information serves the mind, it is here where we decide whether or not to absorb positive or negative information. To be positive is not to simply think, on a conscious level of happy things but to get to the roots of our thinking and make changes in the subconscious. It will then start to show in all aspects or our lives. Success breeds success; therefore successful thoughts breed successful thoughts which in turn breed successful actions, and so on. So if you begin to create successful thoughts and make it a habit to think this way you will become successful.

An example of our training is in our beliefs. Our beliefs are our filters in life. They decide the way in which we view the world, and whether or not we will absorb certain pieces of information. If I believe that all men are not worthy, then no matter what man I meet, regardless of how fantastic he is, I will still view him as not worthy, because I was trained to do so.

So the question now is how do we overcome the training that we were given, and eradicate those beliefs and patterns of thinking that do not support us?

If you feel that you hold a particular belief, e.g., the one about men, go out and act against this belief. Go and give a man a chance. This changes the mental connections of the old thinking and so you are forming a new belief. The more you challenge a belief the less your mind holds on to it.

    1. Write down your thoughts and feelings. This is a great way to get to the subconscious mind.

    2. Be more aware of the thoughts that color your judgment. The more aware you are the better chance you have at changing the ones you do not like.

    3. What you think is a mirror image of your life, subconsciously and consciously. So whilst you are working on the subconscious, watch what your conscious thoughts are. If they are negative acknowledge them, but move on and act in spite of these thoughts.

Are You Positive? The Power of Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

A recent event game me the opportunity to experience the power of positive thinking. All too often we let the rigors of the day get to us and we end up caught in the mire. We easily lose sight of staying positive when the negativity around us creates an obstacle. It's not until something big happens that we remember to put things into perspective. When you have the opportunity, as I did, to assess whether you are taking advantage of the power of positive thinking: there are five questions you can consider to help maintain your positive focus. As we go through each question, I'll use my recent experience as an example.

The five questions to consider are:

    1. How does positive thinking fit with what I value?
    2. Have I made assumptions?
    3. What's perfect about where I'm at right now?
    4. What will my reaction be?
    5. Who do I choose to show up as in this world?

So the first question you may ask yourself, "How does positive thinking fit with what I value?" Your values define who you are. They help to shape what you want and how you live your life. Positive thinking fits differently for everyone because we may have different values. For example, I value being healthy, feeling good, and working out (physical activity). Remembering that I have this value assisted me in maintaining a high level of positive thinking when I was faced with the possibility that I had cancer. I chose not to think that I could have something terribly wrong with me, but instead I focused on knowing that I felt really good, I was working out and overall was very healthy. I was also thinking that if something was wrong with me I was going to do whatever it took to become healthy again. By reviewing my value(s) I maintained positive thinking at a time when negativity could have easily crept in.

The second question to consider is, "Have I made assumptions?" We often make assumptions to fill in the unknown when we are uncomfortable leaving the unknown unknown. And so many times we assume the worst. After multiple diagnostic scans, the cancer surgeon still didn't have conclusive evidence. It was a big unknown. I could have made many assumptions about what it was. I could have assumed it was malignant, benign, or nothing at all. I stayed very aware of whether I was making assumptions by checking in with myself. I asked whether I really knew the answer or if I was just trying to fill in an unknown. By actively refusing to make assumptions I was able to stay much more positive about moving forward.

The third questions is about finding your silver lining: "What's perfect about where I'm at right now?" Sometimes we find it hard to find the silver lining in the situation we're in. It often tires to elude us with lots of distractions. I have to admit, finding what was perfect about potentially having cancer was not easy and I did it. It was perfect that if something was wrong, we found it and could begin working on correcting it. It was perfect that I was surrounded with family, friends, and colleagues who fully supported me and sent their positive thoughts my way. It was perfect that I was experiencing something that I had never experienced before. By reviewing what was perfect about the situation I was able to keep smiling each day.

The fourth question has to do with your reaction. Ask yourself, "What will my reaction be?" The one thing we have control over in a situation is how we choose to react. Thinking back, I had many opportunities where I could have chosen to react negatively: when I first found out that we were looking at the possibility of cancer; when I found out I needed more scans to take a closer look; and when I found out I had to have surgery for a biopsy. Each step of the way I asked myself, "What will my reaction be?" I decided that my reactions would be grounded in positive thinking. I was thankful that I had the best cancer surgeon working with me. I was appreciative that we were going to figure out what we were seeing on the scans. I reacted with curiosity and a drive to find out what was going on. Had I not utilized the power of positive thinking I may have reacted with anger or resentment. The power of positive thinking kept my reaction positively focused each step of the way.

The last question is really an umbrella over all of the other questions and that is to ask, "Who do I choose to show up as in this world?" When confronting difficult situations we sometimes forget that we are still in this world and affecting the people around us. We don't drop out of our families, work, or society just because we're having a tough time. How we choose to show up each day is a reflection of our character. Regardless of the situation I was faced with, when I asked myself who I chose to show up as, it reminded me that overall I am positive, I help others, and I have fun. Why would I let one thing going on in my life alter who I choose to show up as? I answered myself with, I wouldn't. So I didn't.

These five questions helped me maintain a positive perspective on what seemed to be a very serious situation. As I read back through this, it reads a lot easier than it really was. I'll be the first to admit that it is not always easy to utilize positive thinking, but when you do it truly is powerful. I reached out to my family and friends via email with a request that they share their positive thoughts with me just before I went into surgery. Many wrote back with beautiful positive thoughts and I knew that I had an amazing powerful force working in my favor. When the surgeon opened my up he found absolutely nothing to biopsy. He was so amazed he had one of his partners take a look and tell him what he saw. The partner looked and was amazed too. All of the scans had apparently showed a false positive. The surgeons were baffled. They really didn't know what to think. I know what I think. I think it's the power of positive thinking!

Positive Thinking Revisited or How to Become Someone Who Thinks Positive Naturally

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

As I was visiting someone’s home the other day, I saw an excerpt from Louise Hay’s book “Heal your life”, neatly framed and displayed on a wall in their bathroom. Definitely an excellent location for quietly reflecting upon the deeper meanings of a quote!

I enjoyed this idea so much that I am including the excerpt below.

Although not only for that reason.

You certainly know about Louise Hay. She is the Diva of “Positive thinking”. Think straight, feel good, and there you have it. The life of your dreams magically unfolding in front of your very own eyes. Yes!

But what if her teaching gets on your nerves like it does on mine at times? After all, it’s all beautiful.

Then why aren’t we jumping head on into it?

Wouldn’t it because we have difficulties trusting that life can be that good?

Or worse, that it can be good for a while, and then you loose it all ...

It just happened that I’ve been working lately with several people confronted with that same issue. They were enjoying great breakthroughs in their lives, while being totally scared that something would suddenly destroy it all.

Come on, I told them, get out of it! Just say your affirmations and everything will be fine!

    Just joking!

Because, and thanks Heavens for Energy Psychology, we did move full speed into the fears they were experiencing. Accepting this “awful negativity” as it was. While thoroughly healing all the pain and suffering that originated it.

    Big difference. Isn’t?

If someone suggests that you “step out of it” when you’re feeling down and unhappy, don’t listen!

Instead, learn how to use an Energy Technique to heal your suffering. They are incredibly easy to practice on your own , and their creators usually offer their teachings at no charge on their websites.

Wishing you many happy breakthroughts, I'll leave you with Louise Hay's beautiful words: "Deep at the center of my being there is an infinite well of love ..."

    2. Reprinted by permission from “Heal your body” by Louise L. Hay

"Deep at the center of my being there is an infinite well of love. I now allow this love to flow to the surface. It fills my heart, my body, my mind, my consciousness, my very being, and radiates out from me in all directions and returns to me multiplied.

The more love I use and give, the more I have to give. The supply is endless. The use of love makes me feel good, it is an expression of my inner joy.

I love myself, therefore, I take loving care of my body. I lovingly feed it nourishing food and beverages, I lovingly groom it and dress it, and my body lovingly responds to me with vibrant health and energy.

I love myself, therefore, I provide for myself a comfortable home, one that fills all my needs and is a pleasure to be in. I fill the rooms with the vibration of love so that all who enter, myself included, will feel the love and be nourished by it.

I love myself, therefore, I work at a job that I truly enjoy doing, one that uses my creative talents and abilities, working with and for people that I love and that love me, and earning a good income.

I love myself therefore, I behave and think in a loving way to all people, for I know that that which I give out returns to me multiplied. I only attract loving people in my world for they are a mirror of what I am.

I love myself therefore, I forgive and totally release the past and all past experiences and I am free.

I love myself therefore, I love totally in the now, experiencing each moment as good and knowing that my future is bright and joyous, and secure for I am a beloved child of the universe and the universe lovingly takes care of me now and forever more. And so it is.

Positive Attitude: The Power Of Positive Thinking Every Day

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Just because you're miserable doesn't mean you can't enjoy your life.” - Annette Goodhear
Do you have a positive attitude? Do you practice positive thinking every day?

Miserable people give off a nasty scent. You can smell them coming a mile away. Most of the time you can see them coming, too. To be honest with you, there is nothing quite as bad as a negative attitude.

I once knew an acquaintance who had the rottenest attitude I’ve ever seen. Nothing pleased her. She talked bad about everybody, family included. Each time I talked to her, I left feeling as though my energy had been depleted.

A positive attitude does not appear because your life is peachy-keen. A positive attitude takes consistent work. You have to train yourself to think positive every day. It is a daily process that sometimes even I fail at.

I think a lot about a elderly lady that I once went to church with. She loved church and loved rejoicing every church service. She always had a smile on her face. You would have never known that she had cancer.

I witnessed this grandmother praising God all the time, whether at church or in public. Through the last few weeks of her illness, her head became bald from the chemo treatment and she grew so weak that she couldn’t stand or leap for joy in church any longer. That didn’t stop her from staying positive though. She kept raising her hands and praising God anyway.

During her final days, bedridden and sick, her family told how she still continued praising God, all the way to the end. Regardless of how terrible her diseased body felt, deep within her lied the will to remain positive to the end. What a testament to the power of a positive attitude!

The Power of Positive: Create Success With Positive Thinking

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Can we create a better life through the power of positive thinking? Positive thinking is only a small portion of the process of conscious creation, but without it, we haven’t got a chance. People are more successful when they encourage themselves with positive thoughts and hold positive images of desired outcomes.

Positive thinking is not a contemporary, new-age concept. In 1937, author Napoleon Hill wrote, “What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Buddha conceptualized, “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.” Virgil (70 BC -19 BC), ancient Roman master poet wrote, “They can conquer who believe they can.” Throughout the ages, wise men and women have understood that success requires envisioning a positive outcome, and encouraging ourselves with positive expectations and beliefs.

Yet, how often do we attempt to motivate ourselves with the opposite approach? We “hate” our bad habits, or “loathe” our bodies. We “can’t stop” or “can’t get started,” and conclude that we are “lazy” people! We call ourselves names, put ourselves down, and say things to ourselves that we would never say to anyone else! How blind we are to think this approach might work.

So many of us continue to motivate ourselves to act or eat differently through fear, punishment, and negative thoughts. Motivating ourselves with criticism is ineffective in the long term. Focusing on bad habits and exaggerating our faults can not provide enough inspiration to fuel the entire journey toward success.

Have you ever been in this situation? You’re driving along in your car, and all of a sudden you see a pothole. You’re looking directly at it thinking, “Don’t hit the pothole.” Yet sure enough, thud! your car drives right into it. We go where our attention is focused. Success requires shifting attention from what you don’t want to what you do want.

Or let’s say you’re driving along and your goal is to avoid eating at fast food restaurants. In your thoughts are images of the restaurant and the words, “I’m not pulling in. I’m not doing it. I’m not eating that double cheeseburger, fries, with the vanilla shake today.” Chances are, you’re still saying those words as you pull into the drive through lane. The more you think about not seeing the fast food, not tasting the food, or not feeling the food, the more vivid the mental images of eating become. The harder you focus on what you don’t want, the more difficult it becomes to avoid what you don’t want.

Instead, aim for the solution to your problems. Focus on your desired outcome. Put your attention on where you want to go, and what you want in your life. To achieve any desired outcome:

    1. accept and assess your current situation

    2. determine exactly what you want instead of what you don’t want

    3. use positive phrases and wording

    4. give the details of your vision (clarity)

    5. make your vision exciting and compelling!

    Sample Vision:

    1. I currently weigh _______ pounds. I decide to make peace with my now reality. It is what it is. I can’t change my current experience, but I can create a different future for myself.

    2. I decide to breathe, relax, and determine what I would wish to create as a future desired outcome.

    3. I imagine myself creating a new experience in which my body now weighs ______ pounds. I’m capable of creating a new outcome, and I deserve to have what I want.

    4. I look fantastic! I love the way I look and so does everyone around me! I’m more active than ever before! I’m doing fun and exciting things like playing tennis, practicing yoga, and enjoying morning walks. I feel so alive and healthy since I’ve begun eating light. I am living my dream! My food choices and my body reflect the joy and love I feel towards myself. Every day I become even more confident, assertive, and decisive in every situation.

    5. Everyday, I choose to spend time imagining myself living the type of life I deserve. I consciously put passion and energy into my imagined life. I notice the synchronicities that begin to occur, and I take action when and where I am inspired. I continue to pump energy into my desires, and keep myself motivated in all sorts of ways that feel good.

Artist's Affirmation - How Affirmations Enhance Creativity With Artist's Affirmations

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

An affirmation is a thought or any judgment we pass. Affirmations directly influences our sub consciousness which then directs it into a certain direction either leading to a positive or negative change in our lives. Affirmations can be related to anything such as weight loss, self-esteem, love or even helps discover artistic talents. Using the power of artist’s affirmations can help you discover your artistic and expressive side, which can help you not only in the realm of art, poetry, and the like, but also in relationships and in business.

Artist’s affirmations are different from ordinary person's affirmation but you first need to figure out your creative self and what you are good at. Try to bring out your artist self by creating some artist affirmations such as 'I am very creative' or 'I was born out of creativity'. Some are good at dancing, painting, acting and many more. The basic artist affirmation is to feel like an artist and pour out the emotions inside you. Feel the emotions and try putting those emotions in your work. When an artist has any affirmation, they actually love and respect their own thoughts and try their best to turn their thoughts into reality. Generic artist’s affirmations will work for some people, but for others, you need to be more specific when creating your artist affirmations.

To become a successful artist, an artist should get rid of any negative affirmations such as having a feeling of failure. The best way to get rid of negative affirmations for artists is to paint out their negative thoughts and then probably later destroy those paintings feeling that by destroying those paintings all the negative thoughts are destroyed along with the painting.

Secondly feel the energy of success with every affirmation you make. Successful artists always affirm that they is worthy of success. To become a successful artist, affirm on a daily basis to be more successful. This will help bring out true and successful artist in you. Also create works of art which express success, happiness, life full of energy and anything positive. An artist keeps these works to inspire him all the time. A successful artist not only affirms but also visualizes his affirmations. It is also important that very carefully artist hears his affirmations. Thus, make it a point to repeat your affirmations out loud to yourself, because this will enhance the experience.

Artist affirmations can be as generic or as specific as you’d like, however, in general, artistic affirmations should be general. Depending on your regular everyday speech patterns, creating an artist’s affirmation that states “I am creative when I paint” could be potentially harmful. This affirmation sounds exclusive, and as you come to believe in this artist’s affirmation, you may begin to believe that you are only creative when you paint. Thus, ‘I am a creative person’ would be better.

Many examples of artist affirmations are listed below and if practiced these artist affirmations regularly you will not only discover your creative self but also become a successful artist.
'As I create and listen, I will be led'
'Creativity is the creator's will for me'
'I am truly a gifted artist'
'Through the use of a few simple tools, my creativity will flourish'
'My creativity always leads me to success'
    'I am willing to create'
'I am willing to learn to let myself create'

    Affirmation Child's Craft - Building Self-Esteem With a Two-Part Craft Project

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

One thing I know for sure – it’s never too early to start learning to think positive!

Here is a simple craft that children ages five through seven will enjoy creating. It involves two parts: one is making the three dimensional craft, and the other is writing and repeating an affirmation. Affirmations are positive first-person statements written in the present tense. They are often repeated throughout the day. It’s all a matter of giving our subconscious minds a positive blueprint for a happy, abundant life.

This project is suitable for a small group of children also, for say a classroom or a church group.

Materials needed: (available at your local craft store)

A small mirror, maybe 2-3 inches in diameter. It can be any shape. It needn’t be perfectly round.

A small amount of air-dry nontoxic colored clay. Crayola makes a brand of clay that will work fine. Because it is air-dry clay, the project will not have to be baked in an oven, and it will harden in 24 hours.

    Method:

Step 1. Each child chooses a small amount of colored clay. The clay can be squished and blended, streaked or whatever design the children want to do.

Step 2. Mold the clay into a lumpy ball shape. Place one edge of the mirror on the top of the lump and push down, so that the bottom of the lump now makes a flat base, and the mirror is partway stuck into the clay. The lump should now “stand up” by itself, with the mirror placed firmly in the top part of the clay.

Step 3. The lump can be “decorated” by pushing in the blunt end of a pencil to make holes, and/or striations can be created by drawing lines in the clay with an open paper clip. The children can leave their thumb prints in one area, and smear another area so it is smooth. The only limit is the child’s imagination and common tools found around the house. Clay can be placed on the top edge of the mirror also, to hold it in place. Wipe the mirror clean before the clay completely dries.

Set aside this lovely mirror creation.

The second half of the project involves writing an affirmation to go along with the mirror. Some sample affirmations would be “I value myself.” “I honor who I am.” “I am worthy.” “I love myself.” “My life is filled with good things.” “My life is filled with love.” “I appreciate my special skills and talents.”

A good point to remember is to phrase the affirmation so it has meaning to each individual child. Affirmations can be used to change the energy around any situation.

    As an example:

If a child is having difficulty in a certain area of their life, or in school, an affirmation can be used to change and heal the energy around that situation. Repeating “I feel loved and protected all day long,” would help a child dealing with fearful thoughts of feeling alone and vulnerable. “I know what is best for me,” for a child dealing with peer pressure. As long as the affirmation feels natural and not forced, it will have a calming, soothing effect.

It’s very important to phrase affirmations in positive terms, not in negative ones.

As an example, saying “I am no longer selfish” is not an affirmation, and would undoubtedly create a situation of more selfishness. Instead, to feel more generous, a person would repeat “I am generous and loving to myself and others.” And if the person were feeling selfish, perhaps because of an underlying fearful thought of never having enough, an affirmation would be “I am always provided for,” or “I always have everything I need,” or “The Universe is a safe and loving place. I am abundantly cared for.”

Negative statements have a tendency to create more of a situation that is not wanted. As an example, I ran into a friend of mine at the gym. She was upset because she had forgotten her gym bag and now had to skip her workout. She told me she’d been repeating to herself before she left the house, “Don’t forget your gym bag!” Her mind focused on the word “forget,” and sure enough, it created that very fact. If she had been repeating, “Remember your gym bag,” or “I always remember my gym bag,” perhaps she would have been able to work out.

    Finishing the children’s craft project:

After the children have written out their affirmation with the help of an adult on a sturdy card or thick paper which when folded can stand up by itself, place the card and the mirror together. The mirror will remind the children of their inner beauty and self-worth as they repeat their affirmation throughout the day.

Anyone of any age can use affirmations to create positive thoughts which in turn will create a wonderful life of beauty, purpose and promise!

(Note: Enhancements can also be added to the mirror and affirmation if desired, such as sequins, feathers, paper cut-outs, etc.)

Spiritual Affirmation - Healing Your Inner Self With Spiritual Affirmations

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

From childhood to adulthood, the knowledge we gain or the experiences we have in our lives only helps us to discover our outer personality and brings us closer to material things of this world. At the same time we sometimes get depressed or fall into a low self-esteem Problem. Spiritual Affirmations help us get out of these problems. Spiritual Affirmations leads us towards a happy and satisfying life with a peaceful mind.

Affirmations are a judgment that we pass or any thought we have. An affirmation is directly linked to our sub consciousness. Affirmations can either be negative or positive which can either guide our subconscious actions to a successful life or towards failure.

Spiritual Affirmations are a form of meditation which when mediated often, have a desirable results. For example if a person has a lack of confidence or self-esteem problem sit in a peaceful, quiet place with some spiritual affirmations in your mind, let the emotions flow to you and start saying the spiritual affirmations aloud, ‘I believe in myself’ or ‘My inner self will always guide me towards right path with decisions that are beneficial to me and others’.

The key behind spiritual affirmations is to let go of all your negative thoughts and trust completely in yourself. Instead of thinking ‘This project is too difficult for me’ try thinking ‘I am capable of anything and obstacles do not effect me or my work’. Once you adopting this kind of spiritual affirmation you will notice a positive and healthy change in your life.

The best way to carry out spiritual affirmation technique is to release your mind of any negative thought, sit in a peaceful and quiet place, relax and visualize any positive spiritual affirmation such as ‘My mind is at peace now’. At the same time try to use simple words and sentences which can easily be interpreted by our mind and mind can easily accept it to be true.

Spiritual affirmations not only help to achieve a peaceful mind and happy life but also helps us draw closer to God. Remember God and His blessings as much as possible while utilizing the spiritual affirmation technique. For example “I let my renewed soul thank God for His blessings” or ‘I release my old self and reborn with a new pure soul’. The most acceptable and commonly used word in spiritual affirmation is ‘Amen’ meaning ‘so be it’. While some of us use it to conclude our prayer, it can be used for spiritual affirmation.

For a positive result spiritual affirmation needs to be repeated many times for effectiveness. Write down any positive thought you get maybe in a diary, on a piece of card or whichever way is convenient to you. Review them daily to get your mind to completely accept these thoughts. Preferably review them twice a day. Initially during spiritual affirmation technique we will also get negative thoughts. Note down these thoughts as well and at the end of the day review them and try replacing them with something more positive. Once you perform this spiritual affirmation technique on a regular basis you will find a positive change in yourself with a renewed spirit.

Practice Self Talk and Positive Affirmation Statements in Your Life

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Positive self-talk means purposely giving yourself positive reinforcement, motivation, and recognition- just as you would do for a friend. Congratulate yourself when you do well, and remind yourself of your abilities, accomplishments, strengths and skills. Keep a to-do list, check off accomplishments, and review your progress periodically.

Make self-talk work for you. When you habitually say to yourself has a very profound impact on your self-image, your self-esteem, and your performance as well as eventual success. Remember that your subconscious triggers physiological responses to match the pictures and thoughts that you have of yourself to make them happens. Make this work for you by keeping your self-talk positive.

For example say to yourself either “ I did a good job on that changing a friend’s oil even though I took a quart and ½ for myself “ or “ I did a good job of not paying a good friend the cost of supplies for the efforts he did for me “.

Stop negative self-talk. You may well be quick to nag yourself because your mother wanted you to more than perfect. However, negative self talk can be damaging because your subconscious believes what you say to your when you repeat that negative talk in your mind over and over. How is your subconscious to know otherwise? If you catch yourself using negative self-talk, stop and rephrase. Eliminate the negative words. Focus instead on the best course you can take and do it.

Make positive communications a habit. Focus on the positive in goal statements, self-talk, and all communications. Compare the following phrases, and notice how the positive words convey confidence, commitment, and enthusiasm.

For example instead of “I will try” substitute the phrase “ I will “. Instead of saying to you “I should do “insert the phrase “I will do “. Try saying “ I want to “ or “ I choose to” instead of the more common “I must “.

Focus with affirmation statements. Affirmative statements are positive self-statements or reminders to help you achieve goals. They are positive messages with a punch “mental bumper stickers” of sorts to motivate your subconscious mind to work for you.

Here are guidelines to help you to use the powerful tool of affirmative statements as vital mental reminder technique.

    1) Make the statements personal to yourself. Not arbitrary or generic. Use the phrase “I”, your own name, or you

    2) Keep affirmations short. How can you use the affirmations if you cannot remember them?

    3) Phrase your affirmations positively. The mind accepts as truth the words that you give it. Use positive words only as affirmations. Leave out any negative words. For example say “I will not be nervous during my interview with the warden “. Rather say “ I will be calm and self-assured during my interview”

    4) Include a positive emotion. A phrase that triggers a positive emotion strengthens the affirmation. For example “My goals are valuable and it excites me.”

    5) Phrase affirmations as fact. Phrase a goal as though it is happening even if you have not achieved it yet. Your subconscious believes mental messages and works to make them a reality.

    6) Say your affirmation at least 6 times a day. Repetition is life. Repetition enhances self-confidence, acts as a reminder, and stimulates your subconscious to help you achieve your goals in life.

It cannot be overstated the impact that positive self talk and affirmative statements can help you towards the vital goals that you have identified in your life. Remember that without goals even if you work hard you are like a ship without a rudder.

These powerful tools of positive self talk and positive affirmations can more than help speed you along to your chosen goals.

Create Your Own Free Daily Affirmation Program That Works

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

Affirmations, why do some work and some don’t? Many people have life altering success with positive affirmations, while others give up on them altogether.

For the last 5 years, I have studied positive affirmations and have come up with a Three Part Plan that should help even those of us who have had no previous success.

What are affirmations? Affirmations are Statements that you use to make “something firm”. The process of using affirmations is actually ancient. Biblically, they’ve also been referred to as “confessions”.

There are hundreds of books, tapes, CD’s, computer software and even jewelry that have ways to use Affirmations. However, it’s important to know why using these Statements with certain methods will bring immediate results, while others bring nothing but headaches.

Take a look at this Bible Verse Faith Cometh By Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God- Romans 10:17. Think about this for a moment, if Faith comes by hearing, what do we hear? Our voice, right? If our words are positive, then our life experiences tend to be positive.

Unfortunately, each Truth has a reciprocal. If you are Confessing nothing but the negative, your bound to get what you don't want. It’s that simple. Proverbs 2 says that You are snared with the words of your mouth.

Therefore, you’re first step is to curb your tongue. Think of your tongue as a rudder, it can literally turn your life in any direction that you want it to go. It takes a little effort to become aware of how many times in a day you make a negative statement, or profess something that you don’t want to happen. Affirm the positive! Always concentrate on what you want to happen! And NOT what you don't want to happen And, definitely do so Out Loud! If you want to get faster results, make a tape stating each confession 3 times. Listen to this tape as your drifting off to sleep and when you first awake. You should even record your Detailed Description and place it at the end.

Next, Write your Affirmations. When I want to make a change in my life, I write out at least 15-20 specific related Statements. Additionally, I create and write a very Detailed Description of how my life will be once these changes have manifested. I always focus on one goal at a time. In other words, I don’t try to loose weight and attract wealth simultaneously. Results come from intense focus!

Every day I write these affirmations at least 3 times each and in different tenses (i.e. "I am always in the right place at the right time"- "Janet is always in the right place at the right time"). It takes about an hour, but it is well worth it because when I am writing these affirmations, my mind is quiet, focused and extremely receptive. Again, I am focusing on what I want, and NOT what I am trying to change.

Finally, keep these affirmations in front of you as often as possible. This is done in two ways; that which is “seen” and that which is “unseen”. Personally, I have experienced dramatic results with a customized computer program that flashes my affirmations continuously and unobtrusively while I am working or surfing the internet. I also tape a list of my affirmations to my bathroom mirror, in my day planner, car dashboard, etc.

In addition to this computer software, I also meditate on my Detailed Description daily. I visualize my new life in as much detail as I can. I usually take about 15 minutes in the morning and evening to do this.

Know this, it is just as easy to have Faith in the "undesired" as it is to have Faith in the “desired”. Ask yourself, "What will I have Faith in?" Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.- Hebrews 11:1 Remember, you only need Faith in the size of a mustard seed!

Follow these 3 Steps and you will build your Faith that these Affirmations will manifest. Remember, As a Man Thinketh, So is He.

Janet has been studying the Power of Affirmations for the Last 5 years. Until recently her results were medicore at best until she stumbled upon a simple to use Software Program that turns any Computer Screen into a Manifestation Machine. In fact, it's been proven to Enhance the Manifestation of Your Deepest Desires by 500%. Go To http://www.stopbeingaverage.com/ and Make Your Dreams a Reality.

Welcome to the May installment of the Upper Peninsula Life Coaching Newsletter! This month we will be taking a something that effects us all at one time or another - Self Esteem.

When it is good we feel as though we are on top of the world. However when it is not good we can often feel as if we are frozen. That "thing" is of course our self esteem. When our self esteem is low it can often seem as if there is nothing we can do, and if we can do it we can't do it right! This is not true however! I know you are a smart vibrant individual, and by using the steps in this newsletter you can know it too!

    What is Self Esteem?

Self esteem is the way that we view ourselves. This can include how we view our physical self, do we like the way we look; as well as how we view our inner selves, do we like who we are as a person? Self image can serve to both help us or hinder us. A positive self-image can serve as fuel to keep you moving through difficult situations; while a negative self esteem acts like a boot on the wheel of a car; the car will run but it can't go anywhere!

How can we improve our self esteem?

One of the key components to improving your self esteem is to identify what concepts you are holding about yourself are harming you and holding you back. Do you ever think:

"I'm SO stupid! Why did I do that?"

"I don't know why I even try, I never do anything right!"

"Of course they dumped me, I'm such a loser who would want to date me?"

If so, then these thoughts are supporting your negative self image. It is important to replace these mistaken beliefs with positive thoughts, or affirmations, that serve to support what a wonderful and intelligent person you are! For example:

"I did my best, next time I will do something different."

"Well even though that didn't work, I am proud because I did the best I could!"

"I am sad that it didn't work out, but I am a good and interesting person who will find that someone who is right for me."

Keep a journal of your negative self thoughts for one week, then think of a positive counterpart to replace the negative thought with. Write the positive thought on cards and carry them with you as a reminder to stay positive!

Daily Affirmation Is MORE Than Just A Good Idea

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

Daily affirmations can change your life. They are a direct and powerful approach to creating the perfect future for yourself. The reason DAILY affirmation works so well is because it gets refocused on what's important each day. Our minds are bombarded with all these things that demand our attention. Daily affirmation keeps you focused.

We are responsible for taking care of our families, special projects at work, church, volunteer positions, PTA, school plays, and so on. We are so focused on helping others that sometimes we neglect ourselves. We must purposefully give special attention to ourselves each day. Some believe it is selfish to spend time thinking and focusing on what you want. I believe it grounds you. When you are kind, loving, and compassionately giving to yourself, it has been my experience that it is easier to fulfill the obligations you have made with others.

Daily Affirmations are not designed to be lengthy. My affirmations may be longer than usual because I shout my affirmations while I exercise, which is usually an hour. Successful affirmations can be done within five to fifteen minutes, depending on the size of your goals list.

In addition to keeping your focus, affirmations create within us the belief that we can actually do what we affirm. Not only that, but the confidence needed to act upon it. Confidence and action will always accompany strong daily affirmation. Keep in mind, you deserve to have your life exactly the way you want it. With that said, depending upon what you want and the person you currently are, the things you want may be out of your grasp right now.

I hate to say it, but the success you seek may not come overnight. In fact, if it does, I will be greatly surprised. I really believe our daily affirmations determine our actions. And through our constant belief and actions, we turn into the person that can easily achieve the goals we've set for ourselves and even more. Whey you affirm to the world who you are committed to becoming, and what you are committed to having, an invisible force kind of takes over and supernaturally helps you achieve them.

Affirmations are worth investing in daily. The process of taking you from where you are to where you'd like to be is likened to investing in yourself beforehand, and gaining a high return a short time later. You deserve it.

You deserve to have your life exactly the way you want it!!!

Attracting Wealth With The Use of An Affirmation Board

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

My favorite quote is: “I’ll see it when I believe it”. Over the years my mind has challenged this perspective on life, doubted it and even dismissed it at times when I most needed to heed its message. It negates the cultural belief system I grew up in, which, in a nutshell, suggests that we as human beings are at the affect of what is happening in the world around us and that we have little or no control over our life experience. I call this the victim mentality.

Over a decade has passed wherein I have challenged the accuracy of the belief system I grew up with. I have experimented within the lab of my own life and I have concluded within the scope of my own observations and experience that I am not a victim of circumstance. I now know that my life experiences are not random and that my state of mind is greatly responsible for shaping my life experiences.

A few years ago, while still a graduate student trying to juggle many financial obligations, I was unable to pay for one of my graduate courses upfront. Skipping a course and postponing my graduation date was, in my mind, not an option but this still left me clueless as to how I would pay for my course that month.

At that point in my life I had at my disposal a large ’toolbox’ of methods to support me shift my thoughts into ones that were more aligned with the experiences I desired. One of the tools in my precious toolbox included the use of positive affirmations, a method highly effective in training my mind to hold a crystal clear focus of whatever it is I wanted to bring into my life experience. Although I had experienced ‘miracles' in the past by implementing this tool, I did not consistently use it. I still harbored leftover beliefs that diminished the powerful experiences I had when I did use this tool.

Luckily for me, I was so desperate to create enough money to continue my coursework that I was willing to apply the methods I had learned once again. And so, with all the enthusiasm I could muster, I went about creating an affirmation board by typing out the following affirmations

"I have more money than I’ll ever need or desire" "Money, money, money is coming to me from everywhere." " My tuition is easily and gracefully paid for.”

On my board I also added the image of a bag of money alongside the affirmations. This visual helped me invoke my emotions and engage my imagination as I said the affirmations.

I printed three copies of my affirmation board and drove to Kinkos to have them laminated. I proceeded to place one board in my shower, another on my bathroom mirror and the last by my computer. These were places I was sure to frequent daily!

Every morning and night I repeated these affirmations while washing away in the shower (I sang them out loud!), while brushing my teeth (silently repeating them in my mind) and while working at my computer (I took several declaration breaks). I actually enjoyed saying them and they became a welcome ritual in my daily routine! After a mere three days I found myself wholeheartedly immersed in the process, inspired by the sense of abundance and flow my positive affirmations were instilling in me. I completely let go of the results and the reason I introduced the affirmations into my routine in the first place! I was feeling great and that was that!

About two weeks into this process, I received a phone call from the university where I was pursuing my master's degree in counseling psychology. The voice on the other end told me that she had good news to impart to me. I was caught completely off guard when she informed me that an anonymous donor wanted to pay the tuition for a course of my choice. I had no idea that was even an option at my graduate school, especially during the middle of a school year. Besides, how was my name chosen? Who even knew about my situation - I had shared it with no-one!

My desire was fulfilled so precisely that it really caught my attention this time! As I put down the receiver my eyes welled with tears of gratitude and humility. At that moment I felt so connected to something sacred, to something much bigger than myself, to an invisible field of support, love and abundance …it was all so real and palpable to me! My desire was delivered to me and a sense of deep gratitude permeated every cell of my being as I walked around in sheer bliss during the days that followed.

Quantum physicists refer to the “invisible field of support” I experienced as a ‘quantum field’. At the risk of over simplifying this complex theory, this field consists of a myriad of potential possibilities which can be “collapsed” into physical matter by the focused intent - by the focused thoughts, of the observer. The movie “What the Bleep Do We Know", beautifully brings this seemingly complex concept to life. However, as fascinating as this theory sounds, it simply remains a theory, if one has no personal or direct experience of its workings!

Yes, positive affirmations work. They support you in focusing your intent and thoughts on that which your heart desires, be it harmony and love in a challenging relationship or buying the home of your dreams!

You are responsible for filling in your wish list. The ‘quantum field’ is responsible for delivering it to you. You are responsible for envisioning and declaring your wish list as already done. The ‘quantum field’ is responsible for figuring out how to deliver your wish list to you.

Positive affirmations are to be written in the present tense. Write them as if you are already living that which you desire. If you desire a new home, do not affirm that you ‘want’ a beautiful home for you do not want to bring forth the experience of ‘wanting’. Do not specify particular strategies or ‘the how’ of fulfilling your dream as you may want to leave the ‘how’ to the quantum field of infinite potentiality. This field may deliver to you opportunities and solutions that are beyond what your mind could ever conceive. Declare yourself already having, living and experiencing that which you most desire. Engage all your senses when you say your affirmations. Smell the scent of the roses growing on the front lawn of your desired home; feel yourself bathing in your deluxe jacuzzi; sense the joy you experience while watching beautiful sunsets from your bedroom window. Have fun and let your imagination soar. After all, why would you want to experience anything less in your own fantasy!

After you have done all that, let go, detach and be grateful for what you already have! Detach from specific timelines and know that all you desire, in alignment with your highest good, will show up in the perfect timing for you! Know that your wish list is being fulfilled and expect to joyfully receive all that you asked for!

To conclude, I urge you not to believe a word I say or buy into any theories. I urge you to be inspired by my own experience and use positive affirmations in your own life. Become a scientist in your own lab - experiment with your life and observe your results! Happy Manifesting!

Using Psalm 23 as Spiritual Affirmation - The Christian Edition

Life Strategies For Helping You Help Yourself

    >>  Click Here To Discover How You Can Create The Life You Want <<

While searching the internet for some interesting scripture I came across an article on Ezine Articles called “Using Psalm 23 as Spiritual Affirmation”. I had been using psalms on spiritual affirmation for many years the 91st psalm was my favorite so as you may imagine this caught my attention.

After reading what the author said about using the 23rd Psalm I was somewhat confused. Not that he had given and bad instruction but that he had interpreted this affirmation differently from the way I would have.

Rabbi Michael Ozair, the author of the article, I am sure is a very knowledgeable and enlighten individual but I don’t think he did or even could cover how this very powerful psalm can be used as affirmation for Christians. Since I have been faced with the power of this psalm for the last month I believe that God has required me to address this issue.

Let us try to give a little exegesis of the 23rd psalm.

    1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not be in want We can be sure that if we call upon the lord he shall protect us (Psalm 50:15)Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me."

Affirm: I will call upon the lord and he will deliver me from all situations and conditions.

    2. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, When we are distressed and worried we need rest our faith in God. (Matthew 11:28-30) “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”

Affirm: I give my burden and my worries to Christ who gives me comfort in his word and everlasting love.

    3. He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. It is not God’s will that we should suffer or worry over any conditions of this world. In this state of suffering and personal concern with life we become susceptible to the ways of the world. However, it is through the blood of Christ that we are redeemed (restored to our former self) in our relationship with God. (Ephesians 1:7-8) "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding."

Affirm: I am redeemed back to God through Christ, and aligned with the will of God.

    4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. God wants us to have no fear in life. That when we give our lives to Christ God is protecting us ( Rod) and guiding us with God’s Spirit ( staff)

Affirm: I rest my faith in God, that he will make a way in my times of trouble

    5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

So often we call to God to take away our enemy, be it a financial condition, and health problem, or emotional problem. We ask to have these things in our life removed form us, but god has never promised us that we would not have trial or tribulations in life. If we had a life without these conditions we would quickly turn from God to rescue us, because we would have nothing to be rescued from.

At the last supper Christ Jesus knew that he would be betrayed by Judas, doubted by Thomas and denied by Peter. Jesus knew that the soldiers were coming to arrest him and the he was about to embark on some of the most horrific treatment any man had endured.

Jesus did not run from this enemy instead he sat down and ate with the disciples (You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemy). When we do God will in spite of the situation God will not just rescue you but reward you greatly for not turning away your faith in God. (Hebrews 10:35-36) “Cast not away your confidence which has great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience that after ye have done the will of God ye might receive the promise.

Affirm: Because I love God and keep my faith in him God rewards me continually in every thing I do.

    6. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Here we must understand that God has promised us success and prosperity not want and poverty. That we will have these things through daily prayer, meditation and practicing the precept of God will. (Deuteronomy 28:13 ) And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

Affirm: God shall make me the head and the tail in all situations and I will praise him and worship him until my death!

    So the affirmation becomes;

I will call upon the lord and he will deliver me from all situations and conditions. I give my burden and my worries to Christ who gives me comfort in his word and everlasting love. I rest my faith in God, that he will make a way in my times of trouble. Because I love God and keep my faith in him God rewards me continually in every thing I do. God shall make me the head and the tail in all situations and I will praise him and worship him until my death!

    God Bless,
